If a dryer drum is producing noise or making sounds when operating then there might be a problem with support rollers. This is the component on which dryer drum rotates on. In case of such problems they can easily be fixed by replacing the support rollers. Inspect the entire appliance regularly so as to arrest faults or damages before they get too serious.

Step 1 – Get the Correct Dryer Drum Roller

Find out the model of the old dryer drum roller so as to know which device to buy. Get the exact fitting and buy high-quality product. It is guaranteed to last for long duration. The device can be obtained from hardware or home supplies store. Collect tools required to repair the dryer drum.

Step 2 – Unplug Machine

Turn of power supply to the device and unplug it from an electric outlet. Do not attempt to work on home appliances while they are still connected to a power source.

Step 3 – Locate Dryer Drum Support Rollers

Most dryers have the same design, the device can be found below the drum. Start by opening the dryer’s cabinet to access support rollers. Use screwdrivers to remove the top lid on the dryer.

If the dryer does not have screws attached to the back, use a putty knife to loosen the top panel and to disengage retaining clips.

Step 3 – Disconnect Wiring Harness

Push the plastic lock tab on the door switch, this disconnects the wiring harness. Locate the locking tabs by placing a putty knife between the front and the top panel. Release the locking tabs by pressing the putty knife. Locate the toe panel and carefully dismount it from the dryer.

Step 4 – Remove Lint Duct

At the base of the dryer, find 2 door springs and remove them from the appliance. Be careful when opening the dryer door. Use a screwdriver to dismount the lint duct from the dryer. Place the screws in a safe place. Locate the front panel on the dryer and remove the screws and gently put it aside.

Step 5 – Remove Old Drum Roller

Locate the drum and motor, find the pulley and carefully remove the belt running through the idler and motor pulley. Carefully, pull the drum and belt out of the dryer. Take care not to move or damage these components. This exposes drum rollers, use a wrench or a pair of pliers to loosen their grip and disconnect them from the appliance.

Step 6 – Replace Drum Roller

Take the new drum rollers and gently place them in position, watch out for the shaft and make sure that the new device fits in properly. The roller should be positioned on the shaft, connect the component to the back side of the dryer and reassemble the appliance.

Step 7 – Test the Dryer

Make sure that all pieces are tightly fixed in position. Plug the appliance to a power output and turn on the switch. This should have the device working correctly.
