How to Set up a Wireless Home Intercom System

by DoItYourself Staff

A wireless home intercom system is considered wireless because you don't have to hard-wire it through the walls of your home. But remember that you will have to plug a wireless home intercom system into an electrical outlet.

Plugging in the Consoles

The first step is to connect the consoles to electricity. Most of these units will come with four or five consoles. Sometimes there is a master console that may have more controls than the others. These consoles will come with the option to mount them on a wall. If the power source is nearby, you may want to consider this option. If not, simply place the console on a table.

Hooking Up the Doorbell Unit

One of the big benefits of these units is that you can integrate your doorbell. You will attach this doorbell just as you would a regular doorbell unit.

Testing the Wireless Intercom

You should be able to set up a wireless home intercom system in just a couple of hours. Once all of the consoles and the doorbell are connected, you will want to check the system to make sure it works properly. You really shouldn’t have any problems. If you do notice a malfunction, make sure to refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.
