How to Stain Wood Dough

While wood dough can be great for many projects and crafts, it is important to stain it once you are finished in order to improve its appearance. While you might think that using wood stain on something so different from ordinary wood might be difficult, the truth is that you should be able to apply stain to wood dough without any problems.

Step 1 - Using the Wood Dough

Use your wood dough according to your instructions. Once you have mixed and shaped it, allow it to dry for three days.

Step 2 - Making the Stain

Measure out 1 tablespoon of water. Use your eyedropper to add six drops of food coloring to the water. Remember, since you are making your own stain, it is fine to mix and match colors, but do not change the overall amount of food coloring.

Step 3 - Preparing the Wood Dough

For the best results, it is a good idea to lightly sand your finished wood dough product before applying the stain. In fact, this is a good idea even if you do not plan to apply stain.

Step 4 - Applying the Stain

Apply the mixture you have made to the finished wood dough.
