Making sure that your soil is ready for the spring is very important to your garden through the spring, as well as the summer. One way to ensure that your soil is going to be good for the upcoming spring is to be hands-on and create it yourself. Here is how you can do that.

Step 1: Prepare the Garden for Planting

The first thing to do is to take a spade and use it to sprinkle organic matter into the soil. That in and of itself would make sure that the soil is prepared for the spring.

Step 2: Fertilize the Soil

The next important thing to do is to self-fertilize the soil using dried blood, kelp, cottonseed meal, cattle, horse and chicken manure. The self-fertilizing should take place at least several weeks before the spring begins. When the soil is fertilized early, you can be assured that it will be ready for the spring without worrying too much about it.

Step 3: Keep the Soil Safe

It is imperative that the soil is protected in terms of being in the right weather climate and atmosphere. It is very important that the plant gets sun so that the soil is not compromised before the spring.
