How to Test a Refrigerator Temperature Control
The refrigerator temperature control is usually a mechanical system composed of vents that open and close to allow less or more cold air between the freezer and other parts of the refrigerator. To test for temperature control, unplug the power supply from the wall source to avoid electrical shock accidents.
Checking for Corroded Wires
One of the common causes of malfunctioning refrigerator temperature control is corroded wires. To check for one, remove the control dial from the wall. The control dial is also known as the “housing”. Remove the temperature control and allow the dial to hang loose by its wiring. Look for the 2 wires that connect to the control. Check the wires and terminals for corrosion. If some of the wire parts are corroded, this may be the reason for the control’s malfunction.
