Identifying and Finding Cockroaches in Your Home
Cockroaches are of many different types and sizes and each variety has its own unique set of habits and characteristics. They are a very hardy group of insects that have evolved over millions of years and become resistant to specific pesticides and sprays.
Step 1 - Identification
You know you have a problem in your home when you turn on the light in your room and the roaches scurry all over the place trying to hide. Bathrooms and kitchens are generally the main place these roaches will frequent.
Step 2 - Prevention
Cleanliness is the first and last solution to getting your home cockroach free. Wash dishes as soon as they are dirty and keep food in sealed containers. Get rid of extra clutter in your home and replace any loose wall paper. Plug all cracks and holes leading into your home with steel wool so the cockroaches can’t bite through and enter. Roaches can live many months without food, but they need water every day, so fix any water leaks and dry out your sink and shower so they are deprived of water.
Step 3 - Extermination
Sprinkle boric acid powder in all areas of your house where you suspect a cockroach might be hiding. Boric acid is one of the best products for killing roaches without being unsafe for pets.
