Inground Pool Skimmer Replacement
what you'll need
- Concrete saw
- Concrete
- Pool skimmer
- Wrench
An in-ground pool skimmer is a very important part of your pool. If the pool skimmer breaks down, you may have to replace it completely. Here are the basics of how to replace an in-ground pool skimmer effectively.
Step 1 - Remove the Skimmer
Remove the existing pool skimmer. In order to do that, you will most likely have to cut into the existing concrete surrounding the pool skimmer. The best way to do this is to use a concrete saw. Some people use a jackhammer or some other means, but this can result in broken pipes. Therefore, cut around the edge of the skimmer with a concrete saw. Then remove the pool skimmer from the plumbing with the appropriate wrenches.
Step 2 - Attach the New Skimmer
Once you have properly removed the skimmer, you need to attach the new skimmer in its place. Set it into the hole and then attach it to the plumbing with your wrench.
Step 3 - Fill in the Hole
Once you have attached the new skimmer, you need to fill in around it. Pour dirt around it and then finish it off with some new concrete.
