Install A Ceiling Speaker Bracket
If you’ve just purchased a new stereo system, you’ll need to know how to install a ceiling speaker bracket to get the best experience with your system. Having your speakers placed in the correct spots in the ceiling will make your home entertainment system work to it's fullest potential.
Preparing a Spot For Your Speaker
While wearing your safety goggles, place your step stool or ladder directly under the spot you want to install your ceiling speaker bracket. Wearing goggles is important in this step to keep your eyes safe from debris coming from the ceiling. Make sure that you place the hole spots far enough away from the wall so that the speaker will have plenty of room when you attach it to the bracket. Place the bracket against the spot where the speaker will be. Trace around the screw holes in the bracket with your pencil.
Using your drill, create holes in the ceiling where you traced the holes. If you aren’t placing the speaker on a stud, then make sure you use anchors in the screw holes.
Installing the Speaker Bracket
Layer the speaker box with a thin layer of insulation, then, attach the speaker back box to the tile bridge. You may lose a good deal of quality if you don’t use the back box.
Use your drill to screw the ceiling speaker bracket on the piece of ceiling. Make sure your drill is set on low when using it to screw, or better yet, use a manual screwdriver. If you accidentally bend any of the parts during installation you’ll have to buy replacement parts, because they won’t attach to each other properly.
Wiring the Speakers
You will need to connect the speaker wire to the speaker apply wire caps to the wiring. Make sure you get the speaker into the position you want before you attach it to the bracket. Sometimes it could take two pairs of hands to hold and attach the speaker, so you might want to have a friend help out.
Mount the Speaker
Place the speaker on the mounting bracket and attach it with screws. Then, place the speaker grille on the speaker that’s already on the bracket, and screw it on. Remember that the grille is very delicate, so handle it gently to avoid bending. If you’ve bent the frame or the grille, you won’t be able to attach them correctly.
Run the wires that you attached to the speaker to the amplifier or receiver that will control the stereo.
The Sound Settings
The area you installed the speaker will affect how the speaker sounds. If you put the speaker near the corner of the wall, then you’ll want to set the bass lower. If you have a lot of fabrics in your room, like carpeting or upholstered furniture, you need to set the treble to the minus also.
Now you’re ready for an evening of dancing or movie watching with theater quality sound.
