Installing a USB to Serial Driver

- USB Serial Adapter Cable
A USB serial adapter cable is often required these days to install a USB to Serial driver. With the advancement in computer technology today computer systems no longer use serial port to connect devices; instead a USB connection is used. However, if you’re devices require serial connection to work on your computer, you must convert their connection to USB if you wish to exclusively use a serial device on the system.
Step 1: Plugging the Cable to the Computer
Plug the end of the USB serial adapter into the USB port given on the computer. Click “Cancel” when the Wizard finds the new hardware.
Step 2: Run Installation CD
Insert and run the adapter installation CD. Click “Next” once the Installation Wizard appears.
Step 3: Follow the Wizard to complete the Installation Process
Accept the License Agreement, and click “Next” to continue with the installation. Skip the computer restart option upon being prompted. Instead click “Finish” to complete the installation process from USB to serial driver.
Step 4: Restart Computer and Verify the Installation Procedure
Unplug the adapter and allow the computer to restart. Plug back the adapter into the USB port, upon restarting the computer, to verify if the adapter is working correctly.
