Installing a Ventilated Shelf

by DoItYourself Staff

A ventilated shelf can add needed storage to any cabinet or closet and help free up floor space. Ventilated shelving is ideal for use in a pantry or for storing bed linens or clothing that might be affected by moisture, mildew or mold.

Measurements

Measuring the closet is important to ensure you get a good fit for the shelf. Make sure to measure the entire length of wherever you are looking to place the shelf.

Write the measurements down and take them with you to the hardware store to purchase your shelving.

Brackets and Clips

Mark the spots in the closet where you are going to hang the shelf. Attach the brackets just under the marks you’ve created.

Measure the wall at the back for the height of the shelf. Install your clips here every 10 inches.

Snap the Shelves In

Once you have the brackets and clips installed, all you need to do is snap the ventilated shelves in place with the clips.
