Installing a Wood Stove Pipe Through a Wall

As more an more people install alternative heating sources that do not require a chimney, a wood stove pipe is used. Heating sources, like wood pellet stoves, do not need to have a chimney for its exhaust. A wood stove pipe through the wall is enough as it doesn't get too hot and there are no sparks. Installing a wood pipe stove is easily done in a few hours.

Get Area Ready
Set our stove at least 36 inches away from the wall. Then measure the diameter of the stove pipe you will be using an multiply that by 3. This will give you the clearance you will need for the pipe and the wall. Cut a hole in the wall where you are going to place the stove pipe according to the clearance.

Build Brick Wall
Place a 3 1/2 inch brick wall around the edges of the wall. This will ensure against any possible heat damage. Keep 12 inches of space between the brick wall and the actual wall.

Install Wood Stove Pipe
With a factory made pipe, install it into the wall. Leave at least 9 inches between the outside chimney cap and the exterior wall.

Connect Stove Pipe to Stove
Using a steel connector sleeve, make the final connections to the stove itself. As you use the stove, check for any air leaks.
