An electric stove plays a vital role in the kitchen as every household must have a reliable cooking appliance. Proper installation of electric stove is very important, but it is a job you can do without the help of a professional. Take special precautions as you will be working with electricity. Follow the steps below to efficiently install your electric stove.

Step 1 - Measure the Place

Measure the right length and width of the space where the stove will be installed before buying it from the store. The space needed must not be too narrow to provide since this would make it difficult to move the stove into the space during installation as well as moving it out to clean under it. Make sure that the place within a countertop space for the stove is not too wide as well; since this will allow food to be trapped between the counter and the stove.

Step 2 - Choose the Appropriate Electric Stove Design

It also helps a lot if the stove compliments the overall design of the kitchen. Pick the right color and size that you think fits well with your kitchen interior design and taste. There are more oven types than ever from convection to induction ovens and glass to ceramic - the choices are yours. Also choose proper energy efficiency in order to save on your monthly electric bills. It is also a must that you check the unit for defects to avoid future accidents.

Step 3 - Set the Stove

You may need a help when transferring your purchased stove depending on its location (e.g. stairs or first floor). Most electric stoves are usually heavy; it may require two or three individuals to carry it or help balance it on a dolly. To avoid injuries and accidents, make sure that the area is cleared of any obstructions. Also, the current must be off when installing and the appliance is unplugged to avoid any accidents.

Step 4 - Level the Surface

Before placing the unit on its target place, make sure that the area is leveled. The stove must be leveled so it can work effectively. If the floor is not leveled, some remedies can be made. You can simply adjust the bolts by buying some kits, or simply put on a piece of wood or metal sheet under the unit.

Step 5 -Plug It in Carefully

Once the electric stove is leveled, slide it on its place and plug it in. However, make sure that the unit is adjusted to the proper voltage. If you are not sure how much voltage your electric stove needs, read the instruction manual first. Follow the appliance instruction guide for more information.  Be sure that the circuit to the outlet you intend to use has been turned off prior to plugging in the stove. Plug the electric stove to the socket; you can turn on your stove after the circuit breaker has been turned back on.
