Installing and Using a Cell Phone Amplifier

by DoItYourself Staff

A cell phone amplifier is a device that is designed to boost the transmission and reception of a cell phone signal. There are many factors that affect the strength of the signal, including the cell phone’s transmission strength, the location of the cell tower, radio interference and solid barriers. In order to boost the performance of a cell phone during a call, a cell phone amplifier can be used. Here is more information about installing and using the device.

Installation Procedures

The installation will depend on the location of the installation and the type of amplifier to be installed. First, the amplifier can be installed on the roof of a car, the roof of a house or in offices located in commercial buildings.

There are several types of amplifiers designed for mobile use. The device may have a magnet that can be used to easily attach it to any car’s roof. The cell phone can then be connected to the amplifier via a jack and a cable. In some cases, an antenna can be placed at the back of the phone. This small antenna connects the amplifier and the cell phone through radio signals, infrared or any other technology. Sometimes, a repeat antenna can also be installed inside the car.

In homes, the amplifier can be installed in the roof or in any area of the house that directly faces the cell tower without any solid barrier interfering with the transfer of signals. In this setup, the cell phone can be connected to the amplifier via a repeat antenna or a small antenna connected at the back of it. The same installation process can be done in a commercial building. The best way to install the amplifier is to find a suitable location where it has direct uninterfered contact with a tower.

Using the Cell Phone Amplifier

In order to use the amplifier, make sure that it is compatible with the cell phone being used. Compatibility issues usually occur because users do not look into the specification required on the product. To avoid any problems in using the device, always check the product description to make sure that it supports the phone model.

After the installation of the device, call someone to test if the coverage and call quality has improved. If the amplifier does not boost the signal in a specific area you want better signal access, consider transferring the amplifier or the repeat antenna to another location more convenient.

The amplifier can be used while travelling to areas where there is usually low signal reception. It can also be used in work areas where cell towers are far from view. Using the amplifier when working in the forest can be of great help especially in times of distress when important phone calls are needed. As long as the device is correctly setup, you will have access to cell towers, at even the most inconspicuous areas.
