Home office lighting is very important if you want to improve the functionality of your home office. One of the many lights that you can use for home office lighting are track lights. Track lights do not only improve the ambiance of your home office but they also improve the contrast of colors thus allowing you to see clearer. Track lights are also convenient to use since you can direct the lights to any direction that you want resulting to an improved mood and functionality of your home office even more. Track lights installation is very easy and can be done even without the aid of an electrician.

Step 1 - Turn Off the Main Power Source

Since you are dealing with electricity in this project, the first thing that you need to do is to turn off the main electrical circuit of your home. Wear a pair of insulated gloves for protection. Once done, remove the existing lighting fixture that you have installed in your home office. For ease of work, use a holder for you to place the fixtures. Make use of a ladder to reach the lighting fixtures. Ask a family member to keep the ladder in place while you climb each wrung. Check the existing wires if they are still okay. If not, then you need to snip the ends of oxidized wire for safety reasons.

Step 2 - Wire the Track Lights

Track lights have its own wire connector that supplies power to the rest of the track lights. Slip the wires of the track connectors into the hole where the wires of the old lighting fixture were once connected. Wrap an electrical tape on the exposed wires to prevent any accidental short circuit and electrocution.

Step 3 - Secure the Track Connector

Once the wirings have been connected, secure the track connector to the ceiling. Before drilling holes to secure the lights firmly, ensure that the track lights are in a straight position. Use a pencil to mark the area where you are going to drill the holes to install the lights.

Step 4 - Bolt in the Track Lights

Once the holes have been drilled, slide the toggle bolts through the hole and screw them firmly in place. Once done, lift the track lights and slide them to the connector then drive the toggle bolts to the holes in order to support the lights. Using a screw driver, tighten the toggle bolts to make sure that the track lights are tightly placed and secure. Check for any loose studs around the tracks.

Step 5 - Test the Track Lights

Turn on the power of the track lights and test if they are working properly. Since track lights can be adjusted, test whether the track lights are pointed to the direction where you need the lights to shine. If not, climb the ladder again and adjust the angle of the lights until you are satisfied.
