Ventless gas stoves are convenient, attractive and easy to install. A professional must hook up the actual gas line, but the rest can be done by almost anyone with just a few common household tools.
Some gas stoves come with a pre-made frame called a mantle. Others are available as inserts and only require you to purchase or construct a separate frame. For the complete package, all you need is a wrench to hook up the gas line. Simply drill a small hole through the wall behind the unit to accommodate the line, bring the gas line from the outside tank in through the hole and attach the line from the stove. When purchasing a separate mantle, be sure the size is right by consulting the dimensions listed in the manual.
Ventless gas stoves are so efficient, they consume 99.5 percent of the fuel they use. There is no need for venting as toxic chemicals are not allowed to escape into the air. Although installing a ventless gas stove is easy and smart, you should have an HVAC professional check your connection for leaks just to be safe.
