The layers include insulation sandwiched between two layers of steel. The insulation is CFC-free, environmentally safe, and in thickness ranging from 1 3/8-inches to 2 inches thick.

Insulation choices include polyurethane or polystyrene material. Steel insulated garage doors generally come in 3-panel design with windows also available. Factory colors are generally limited to a handful of standard ones like white, gray, beige, etc.
