Ironing a Button-Up Blouse

by DoItYourself Staff

what you'll need

  • Iron
  • Ironing board or flat surface
  • Towels (Optional)

Ironing a button-up blouse is a very easy procedure. Follow these steps to make your blouse look its best.

Step 1 - Surface

If you have an ironing board, that will help you only iron small sections at a time. However, a table will work, or even the floor. Just make sure you place a layer of towels on the table before ironing.

Step 2 - Heat Iron to Temperature

Set the control on the iron to the specific temperature and let it heat up for a few minutes before using it.

Step 3 - Lay Shirt Flat

  • Lay the shirt flat on the ironing board and start with the sleeves.
  • Move the shirt around until the sleeves are flat on the board.
  • Run the iron down the length of the sleeves for a few swipes.
  • Move the blouse until the other sleeve is flat on the ironing board and repeat the ironing.

Step 4 - Iron Front of Shirt

  • Leave the shirt buttoned and lay it flat on the ironing board.
  • Run the iron along both sides and then in between the buttons.
  • Simply slide the edge in between the buttons and make sure the seam is flat and unwrinkled.

Step 5 - Iron Back of Blouse

  • Turn the shirt over and run the iron lightly over the back of the shirt.
  • Pay special attention to the bottom of the shirt.
