Is it necessary to install a pipe on a pellet stove?

by DoItYourself Staff

Pellet stoves are a popular way to heat or assist the heating of a home. They produce an even, warm heat that is less expensive to use than many other types of fuel. Pellet stoves require a stove pipe for several reasons. The main reason is because they must be vented to the outside of the building to prevent fumes and harmful chemicals from backing up into the home and causing illnesses and possible death.
Pellet stoves also need to be vented so, like any other indoor burning device, they can properly draw in air. This allows air from the room to enter the pellet stove and create a flame, and then the fumes and excess heat can exit.
