Is Sealing a Basement Floor from Radon Necessary?

by DoItYourself Staff

You can stop radon gas from entering your home by sealing your basement floor with an effective sealer. Radon gas, though it is colorless, odorless and tasteless, can be detected by using a radon gas detector. Without an appropriate sealer, radon can accumulate in confined areas of buildings such as basements.

Radon Concrete Sealer

Purchase radon sealers from your local home improvement market, and follow manufacturer's directions to apply it to your basement floor. Some of these sealers penetrate as deep as 4 inches into the pores of concrete to prevent the intrusion of this dangerous gas.
