Is stucco or vinyl siding more environmentally friendly?

by DoItYourself Staff

Between stucco and vinyl siding, stucco is the more environmentally friendly option. In order to create vinyl siding, the manufacturing company has to create a number of highly toxic byproducts as well. In the long run, these byproducts can significantly harm the environment. With stucco, there are none of these issues to worry about. It is made out of a mixture of Portland cement and other natural materials. This does not create any toxic byproducts, or other pollution to worry about. It can also be very long lasting, which helps conserve natural resources.
