Is terrazzo flooring an eco-friendly flooring option?

by DoItYourself Staff

Terrazzo flooring is widely considered to be an eco-friendly flooring choice. This type of flooring is made out of cement with other materials in it such as marble, rock or glass. To make terrazzo, manufacturers generally use recycled materials as the composite material. For example, when glass is the main component of the terrazzo, it is generally taken from car windshields or bottles or other sources of glass. When it is made out of other materials, it is also eco-friendly because it does not create waste. The effect is a unique flooring that is often sprinkled with colors from pieces of recycled glass.
