Is timber edging as durable as pavers for driveway edging?

by DoItYourself Staff

Compared to pavers, timber edging is not as durable because it is more prone to wear. Since both materials will be exposed to the elements, wood has a big probability of rotting and therefore lose its sturdiness. Pavers on the other hand will be able to withstand the elements no matter what. Timber edging also won’t be able to withstand sideways forces and it will eventually warp and be bent out of shape. Once the wood loses its structural integrity and its core deteriorates, it will eventually start to crack and then break under the constant pressure of loads passing through the driveway. Compared to pavers, timber edging is not a good option if you are very particular about durability and longevity.
