New teak furniture comes in a rich golden brown color. When left outside in direct sun, it fades to a silvery gray color. Some people like this color and choose to let their furniture weather, but if you prefer the original color there are steps you can take to keep it.
Apply Sealant To New Teak Furniture
Teak sealer has UV blockers in it that prevent the sun from graying the furniture. If the piece you want to seal is new, you should leave it out in the sun for a week before sealing it to allow the wood grain to open.
Sealant is available in a spray bottle or in a liquid form that can be applied with a paintbrush. Use a soft cloth to rub it in. Wait for the first coat to dry completely before you add a second coat. To keep the sealant working effectively, reapply every 6 months to 1 year depending on your weather conditions.
