Low Voltage Lamp for the Green Approach

by DoItYourself Staff

Turning eco-friendly is a good reason to buy a low voltage lamp. Low voltage electrical equipment is far cheaper to run than operating a standard voltage lamp or appliance. Low voltage does not mean low quality. In fact low voltage has no bearing on the quality of any appliance.

Why Go Low?

Lower voltage means an initial lay out of the cost of the appliance and most low voltage lamps or lights will not differ too far from standard models. There are three basic types of lighting which are commonly found in homes. Those are fluorescent, incandescent and HID. Incandescent is probably the most well recognized and they do come in regular or low voltage. Low voltage means less use. The wattage is slightly affected by the low the frequency of power but not enough that it would be a great difference to the quality.

Indoors and Out

Low voltage lamps can be used both inside and outside the home. Your garden could become beautifully illuminated using low voltage lamps along a pathway or on the lawn. There is no limit to their uses and at the same time, your green approach will save you money, save on CO2 emissions and stay beautiful for longer.
