Maintain Stone Garden Furniture The Green Way

Stone garden furniture is a beautiful feature in any garden retreat. Offered in marble, slate or granite and even limestone, stone surfaces can become stained with saps and other common organic materials.

Caring for Stone

Stone furniture should be cleaned at least once a year, but it is best when used year-round in warmer climates. So long as staining substances (like red wine) are quickly wiped away, natural stone can be easily cleaned. Use a damp cloth and one of several green cleaning products for safe, eco-friendly maintenance.

Simple Green for Stone

Simple Green for Stone is a new product that is specifically designed for use on natural stone like granite, marble and limestone. It is non-toxic and completely biodegradable. It is easy to use: simply spray it on your stone garden furniture and wipe it off. It does not leave any greasy residue and is completely safe to use around family pets and children.

Stone Logix

Stone Logix is a natural green stone cleaner with a neutral pH level that is safe to use on all stone garden furniture. It breaks down oils, grime and dirt. It also has a non-etching formula that will not leave undesired marks once you are finished cleaning. It contains no acids, alcohol, ammonia, caustics or dyes.

Easy Clean for Granite, Marble, Ceramic Tile and Stone

This product by Tekon Universal Sciences is manufactured for safe use in the home and garden on natural stone furnishings. It fights germs, mold and bacteria and also seals garden furniture. Easy Clean does not leave a residue after use and it is odorless and safe to use around pets and children.

Other Green Solutions

You can use a steamer on your stone furnishings to remove any organic material stuck to the surface. You can also try using a power washer, though this may be a bit more dangerous to your furnishings if it has fine detail work or is already damaged. The strength of the spray may result in further damage to fragile stonework.
