Maintaining a Porcelain Doll Collection
Many people have incredible displays in their porcelain doll collection. Collectors can have hundreds of these porcelain dolls, all in pristine condition, that can be priceless in value. Most of these dolls are parts of entire collections, are single, rare dolls, and even dolls that are hundreds of years old. Keeping them maintained, is an undertaking all of its own. Here are some tips to help you maintain your collection.
Keep Out of Sunlight
Direct sunlight can have a harmful effect on your porcelain doll collection. Sunlight can fade the clothes and even change the color of the doll itself. Store out of the sun's rays.
Place in Box
Your doll should either be in the original unopened box, or in a glass case. This way it is away from any dust that can dirty the clothing and the doll itself.
Store Dolls Face Down
Some of the porcelain dolls will have eyes that move. In order to keep the eyes straight ahead and not drooping it is important to store the dolls facing down. This will keep the eyes from settling while they are being stored.
Keep Out of Reach
Many porcelain doll collections have met their end at the hands of a young child. Keep your doll collection out of reach of small hands and you will be able to enjoy them for many years to come.
