Maintaining Kitchen Recessed Lights
After you have your kitchen recessed lights installed you should know how to maintain them. Changing light bulbs and cleaning the fixtures is important to ensure the best function of your recessed lights.
Changing Light Bulb in Recessed Light
If you have compact fluorescent light bulbs to change you will find they only need to be replaced every few years, but they do need to be disposed of properly. Make sure your light switch is turned off before you remove the light bulb. Remove the light cover and just unscrew the bulb. Some recessed lights accommodate a bulb that is practically the same size as the opening. In this case a piece of duct tape can be rolled sticky side out, push the tape against the light bulb and turn the tape with the bulb to remove it.
Cleaning Recessed Light Fixture
If you have the glass cover for your lights, while they are removed to replace light bulbs or periodically, warm soapy water and a lint free cloth can be used to rid them of any dust and cooking grease that may have accumulated on them. While the glass and bulbs are out, be sure light is off and wipe the surfaces of the recessed light with a damp cloth or a pretreated kitchen wipe.
