Microfiber furniture is a relatively new type of furniture with an upholstered surface that’s designed to repel stains and stay looking new for a long time. While microfiber furniture isn’t indestructible, with the proper care it can last far longer than traditional upholstery.
Read the Code on Your Microfiber Furniture
Microfiber furniture will come with a cleaning “code.” Most will be either W, S or W-S. W means that you can use water to clean the furniture. Don’t use too much water because it could leave stains or rings, but it’s alright to use a damp cloth or a little bit of wet scrubbing to clean the furniture. S means you’ll need to use a solvent type cleaner. Since most solvents are foam based, you don’t want to use water on microfiber furniture with an S tag, or you risk ruining it. W-S means you can successfully use either water or a solvent cleaner.
Microfiber Furniture Cleaning Tag X
If the tag on your furniture says X, then keep liquid and solvent cleaners far away from your furniture. In this case, use only light vacuuming or dry brushing to clean the furniture, in order to avoid damage that water or cleaners can cause to the suede-like surface.
