Mini ovens are small, countertop electric ovens that perform a variety of functions – baking, roasting, broiling, toasting, and even cooking by rotisserie. Mini ovens are fan-assisted and thermostatically controlled and come with racks, trays and a roasting pan, in addition to the rotisserie hardware.
Some mini ovens come with two hotplates atop the unit, one large and one medium, which operate simultaneously with the oven and can be used for grilling, roasting, baking, frying and boiling. Some mini ovens are self-cleaning and feature an interior oven light.
How mini ovens work
Mini ovens operate just like a regular oven, with dial-controlled top and bottom heating elements, a thermostat that regulates temperature, and a timer.
Pros and cons of mini ovens
The compact size of mini ovens mean they heat up faster and can cook food faster than a standard size oven, while using less energy. A drawback to mini ovens is they do not hold all size pans or as many pans at one time as a standard oven.
