There are a number of things that have to consider before moving something as large and heavy as a refrigerator. If you don’t follow some simple safety precautions, you might injure yourself or even damage the refrigerator. Moving a fridge requires you do a little planning in advance to make sure that you get it right.
Don’t Do It Alone
You should have someone with you to help when moving a fridge. Even though you may have the proper equipment such as a dolly, you will still require another person to help you guide the fridge through your home to the kitchen area where it will be installed.
Strap It In
Use the straps that come with your dolly to keep it on the moving equipment without falling off. The straps can prevent you from injuring yourself as well as damaging the refrigerator. You should also consider wrapping the refrigerator with cloths to keep it from being damaged by corners and walls while it is being moved through your home.
Plan Your Path
Plan how you will move through the house with the refrigerator before you begin moving the fridge. Look for obstacles in your path so that you can move them out of the way or find an alternative route.
