Do you love cats but have cat allergies? Several strategies can help you to minimize the allergic reactions that you endure due to cat dander.First of all, what is cat dander? Cat dander is the infinitesimal bits of dried saliva that are present on your cat's skin. These flakes are the culprits that cause your allergy to flare up.
If you follow the steps outlined, you will be able to minimize your allergic reaction. It is important to note that this is an ongoing process. You will need to continually adhere to these steps.
- Vacuum daily - carpets, furniture, and curtains.
- Dust with a cloth that captures the dust rather than one which simply relocates it.
- Wipe down other surfaces on a regular basis.
- Don't allow the precious kitty to enterthe bedrooms.
- Minimize the amount of upholstered furniture, curtains, and carpeting.
- Brush the cat at least weekly. This will minimize the amount of dander that spreads in the home.
- Purchase an air purification device and place it in a central location.
- Consult your veterinarian about the availability of sprays that minimize the effects of dander.
- Investigate different breeds of cats. Short-haired breeds generally invoke minor allergic reactions, and also shed less than long-haired breeds. Certain long-haired breeds shed infrequently and would contribute less dander to the environment.
- Consider getting an allergy shot from your physician.
