No Energy to Workout? 6 Energy Boosters
It is important to keep your energy level high. Exercise is one of the most highly recommended ways of maintaining a healthy weight, preventing stress and promoting overall health and happiness. So why doesn't everyone exercise more frequently? Often, it is because you are tired from your hectic life, too busy to find time or feeling just plain lazy. Laziness may be the biggest factor preventing you from living life the best way that you can. Here are some energy boosters to use when you know that you should be exercising, but the television is calling your name.
Just Do It
If you can just pull yourself off of the couch for a brisk 5-minute walk, the rest will come easily. Studies show that 5 minutes is all that it takes to get your heart pumping and your body ready for exercise. So, don’t leave your house with the intention of walking for an hour. Leave for a 5-minute power walk in mind, and the minutes will start to fly by.
Take a Nap
Have you ever been exhausted and thought “a 15 minute nap is all I need?” It turns out you may be right. Fifteen minutes is the perfect amount of time to sleep for a jolt of energy. Be sure to set an alarm, because sleeping any longer will make you groggy.
Hydrate!
If you’re feeling tired, dehydration is almost always why. Nine times out of 10, a tall glass of water will restore at least some of your energy. This will be beneficial in other ways too. Experts say that you should drink plenty of water before and after you exercise. It is your body’s fuel, after all! Drink about 8 oz, and you’ll feel ready to go.
Have a Snack
Choose something low on sugary starches. These will give you a burst of energy, but they’ll leave you feeling much more exhausted after about an hour. Choose something high in protein and fiber. You’ll stay full, and your body will have plenty of energy to burn through. Perfect!
Have a T.V Workout
If your mind is wrapped around "C.S.I" instead of jogging around your neighborhood, make yourself workout right where you are. As soon as the commercial break comes on, do as many sit ups as you can before the show continues. Every time a character says the word “and,” do 5 push-ups. Incorporate your workouts into your television show, and you won’t feel like you’re working out at all.
Game Time
Exercise won’t feel like a chore if you’re doing something that you enjoy. If you change your exercise from an afternoon run to an afternoon game of tennis with your best friend, you’ll get an instant energy boost just thinking of the fun you’ll have. Consider getting some running time in with the best exercise partners on earth: children. Keeping up with them will be more of a workout than any Pilates class will give you!
