Optimum Ceiling Speaker Placement for Home Theaters
While it’s great to have a 52 inch plasma screen TV and stereo system to die for, it’s your ceiling speaker placement that makes everything come together for a total home theater experience. If put in the wrong place, it can take away from the enjoyment of your entertainment system.
Where will you be Sitting?
There is no sense installing your ceiling speakers in the dead center of the room if you will be sitting along the back wall. You will want to install them over your main sitting area for maximum enjoyment.
Equal Distance
When placing your ceiling speakers, make sure that they are of equal distance from you and from each other. If they are installed haphazardly, then you will end up with an unequal and uneven listening experience, especially when considering surround sound.
- Front left and right speakers should be place approximately 2 feet from the wall.
- Whatever distance the speakers are from where you will be sitting, should be the space between the speakers. If this isn’t possible the speakers should be no less than half the distance between the speakers and your sitting area.
- Place the center speaker an equal distance from the left and right speakers.
Ceiling speaker kits will also have any instructions that may be particular to those speakers.
