Removing Mineral Buildup

by DoItYourself Staff

Over time, various minerals in your water, such as lime and calcium, will likely build up in your faucets, nozzles and shower heads--especially if you live in an area with "hard" water. Eventually, your water flow from those nozzles becomes slow and uneven. To remedy that, carefully unscrew the heads on the shower and faucets, then soak them for a few hours in a decalcifier such as CLR. Finally, give them a quick scrubbing with a toothbrush and re-attach them. (Be sure to use an old toothbrush because you're not going to want to use it again.)
