Pond Filter Pad Cleaning and Replacement

Cleaning the pond filter pad is essential for the overall health and well-being of your pond's inhabitants and ecosystem. By following the simple steps below, you can quickly and thoroughly clean and replace your filter pad.

Step 1- Shut Off Power

Make sure all power is turned off to your filter. Since you are working near a body of water, turning all electrical and power sources off while doing this project will prevent any kind of safety hazard from occurring.

Step 2- Take Out Dirty Pad

If the filter looks to be in fair condition,  then try cleaning it with warm instead of replacing it. Keep in mind not to clean the filter underneath a powerful stream of water as this could damage it. If your filter looks torn and damaged, however, then throwing it out is the best option.

Step 3- Replace With New One

Because pond filter pads are inexpensive, you could use a new one each time you want to clean your filter pad. You can keep the older one, if possible, and use it as a spare in case the new one fails.

Step 4- Turn Power On

Once you have changed the filter, turn the power back on to the filter and test it to make sure it is properly functioning.
