Pros and Cons of a Soft Acoustic Guitar Case
Protecting your guitar while traveling is essential, but a soft guitar case does not always work well. If you take your guitar on an plane these days you are likely to be told it must be placed in the cargo hold, so there is every chance your soft case may not be suitable under those conditions.
Pros of a Soft Acoustic Guitar Case
An obvious advantage of a soft case is that it will be a lot lighter to carry. The soft cases are usually made from leather, vinyl or plastic but they are extremely light weight in comparison to hard cases. Soft cases are also easier to store in tight spaces because they will squash down to accommodate the actual frame of the guitar, making them easier to place away somewhere.
Cons of a Soft Acoustic Guitar Case
So, having covered the good points, there are always con’s to consider. Again, traveling can be extremely difficult with a soft case. If you take your guitar on a plane you will have to put it in the hold and it will be exposed to temperatures as low as -78 degrees. This can seriously harm the guitar, so in this instance a hard case would be better. Also, for the reason that baggage handlers are not always gentle with luggage, a hard case would be better too.
