If you are looking for an affordable way to refresh your bathroom, consider refinishing your bathroom vanity cabinets. Refinishing cabinets can be a weekend project as simple as applying a crackle finish to your cabinets or as complicated as taking them apart and repainting them completely.
Finishing Styles
Crackle Finish — Crackle finishes are applied in a thin layer to the surface of cabinets. This can be accomplished by removing the doors from cabinets and easily apply the finish to the doors and to the remaining exposed cabinet surfaces. As the finish dries, a light crackle appears on the surface.
Glazes—Glazes are a light, sheer layer of color applied over wood stain or added to a crackle finish. Glazes can also be used to highlight details of cabinets and create an entirely unique and different look for your bathroom vanity cabinets.
Distressing—Distressing is a technique that requires either rough sanding or scarring an existing finish or applying an antiquing compound to the surface of the cabinet.
Restaining—By applying a second, thin layer of gel stain over existing cabinet stain, you can create an entirely new finish for your existing cabinets.
Painting—Painting your bathroom vanity cabinets is one of the simplest finishing styles.
