Refinishing a Textured Ceiling
what you'll need
- Scraper
- Screwdriver Head
- Sandpaper
- Paint
- Paintbrush
- Varnish
- Step Ladder
- Paper Towels
When refinishing a textured ceiling there are some things that should be done. Here are some tips on doing this job:
Step One - Taking Off The Old Finish
Remove the finish that was already on by rubbing a scraper across the surface of the ceiling. A flat head screwdriver could also be used to get the job done. If a scraper or screwdriver are not available, use sandpaper to remove the old finish. Use a paper towel to wipe the ceiling clean after removing the finish.
Step Two - Putting On The New Paint
By using the paintbrush, new paint can be layered over the textured parts of the ceiling.
Step Three - Putting The Varnish On
When the new paint job is finished a layer of varnish will be added over the paint. Use a new paint brush when adding the varnish. By using a new paintbrush the varnish will not cling to dirt. Cover the edges of the ceiling until completion. After this the varnish is left to dry.
Step Four - The Final Finish
Rub some paper towels over the surface of the varnish so the shining areas will be removed by the paper towels. The refinishing job is now complete.
