  • Couch and chair

If you are a wine lover, consider turning your basement into a wine bar. This can become a big project depending on the size and shape of your basement and how you are currently using it. Once you get your space ready to be remodeled, the hardest part of the project is deciding the design you would like. You might choose to have a concrete floor, in which case you could leave it bare. While it is easy to break bottles on concrete, it is easier to clean and does not stain as quickly as carpet or tile. Here are some steps for remodeling your basement into a wine bar. These steps assume that you are leaving a concrete floor bare.

Step 1 - Design

You first need to decide on the look you desire. Decide where you would like your wine bar to sit and place the other furniture to complement the bar. You also need to decide what pictures, signs and wall hanging decor you are going to put in your converted basement. Also decide whether or not you would like rugs placed on the floor.

Next, choose a color scheme.Purchase a wine bar with matching bar stools, a couch and chair that matches the color scheme and select a wine shelf to hold your unopened bottles.

Step 2 - Placing the Furniture

Once you have everything picked out, you are ready to put it in place. Start with your wine bar. Once you have it in place, put mirrors on the wall behind the bar. You have to screw the mirror clamps into places around the mirrors to hold them in place.

Next, place the bar stools in front of the wine bar. Then place your couch and chair in an area near your wine bar to make conversation easy. Once those are in place, screw or nail your wine shelves to the existing wall to prevent them from getting turned over.

Step 3 - Hanging Wall Decor

Now that you have the furniture in place, choose where you want to hang pictures, signs and other wall decor that will match the theme of your wine bar. A common decorative element a neon sign hung behind the bar itself. Another common style includes pictures of grape vines and wine vineyards in your decor. By placing these picture around your basement, you will achieve a more cohesive look.

Step 4 - Finishing Touches

To tie the room together, put tables around your couch and chair and place magazines on them. You can place rugs on the floor. When placing rugs on the floor remember to place them in area where they will not receive a lot of spills. You can also choose to hang more lighting. This will give a better look, as well as give you the choose of how much illumination you prefer.
