Remote Thermostat Control
A remote thermostat control is made up of a wireless thermostat, one or more receivers and at least one remote control. Many units are touch screen. They also contain the capability to control the home’s temperature via the Internet or home phone, in turn requiring professional installation of the units. Why are many homeowners switching or adding thermostats that offer remote control capability to their homes? There are two big benefits.
Money Savings
This is the most common reason for installation. The thermostat contains a programmable scheduling feature, allowing for temperature control according to each day of the week. Families with schedules that change daily save money by conserving heat and air conditioning when nobody is home. With two or more receivers connected, homes can be zoned. Different zones can be adjusted at desired times.
Convenience
Thermostats contain both manual and auto modes. Using the remote control, the temperature can be changed in any room of the home, from any room in the home. The thermostat also has a memory. It can automatically adjust to the comfort setting that is programmed. Many use this when it is night time. At a specific time, the temperature will rise, allowing a warmer morning with no need to get out of bed.
Now, like the television, the thermostat has a remote. While sitting on the couch, any room’s temperature can be changed to any way desired.
