Fire sprinkler alarm is a part of the fire sprinkler system which serves as the most active measure of fire protection. It consists of the supply water system. When it comes to protecting yourself against fire, a fire sprinkler alarm is a definite must have. Fire sprinkler alarms alert people if a fire breaks out and hopefully gives them ample time to leave the location safely and quickly. The sprinkler works hand in hand with the alarm by dousing the fire before the firemen arrive. Follow the below step-by-step guide to replace a fire sprinkler alarm.

Step 1 – Choose the Type of Sprinkler System You Want to Install

Decide on a fire sprinkler system that is compatible with your type of home. You may need to consult with the local fire department or a professional tech.

Step 2 – Check the Local Regulations

Check the local regulations to make sure that the sprinkler alarm system meets all the local codes in accordance with your fire department.

Step 3 – Figure out Sprinkler Requirements

Check to see if the water pressure is strong enough to meet the requirements of the fire sprinkler alarm. If it does not meet these requirements, hook up the system with the source for controlled water, such as a water storage tank or well. These should have enough pumping system. You will need to decide on how to connect the fire sprinkler pipes to the water source.

Step 4 - Determine How Many Pipes are Needed

Determine how many pipes are needed based on the existing sprinkler. Include the joint connector plans so that you can connect the pipes at an angle.

Step 4 – Start the Replacement

Start the fire sprinkler alarm replacement where the piping will be attached to the water tank or city water system. Work through the room where the new fire sprinkler alarm will be replaced. Cut sections out in the ceiling or wall where the pipes run through.

Step 5 – Install CPVC Pipe

With CPVC pipe positioned, install it through the main area in order for the piping system to be attached to the water system correctly.

Step 6 – Connect Your Pipelines

Connect the pipelines through ceilings and the walls. Use the elbow pipe fittings when needed, the joint connectors for angles. Check all of the connections to make sure they are water tight.

Step 7 – Setting the Nipple

Place a nipple at each pipe’s end that will be attached to the sprinkler head. Before connecting the sprinkler head to the pipe, use pipe sealant on it. The installed system may call for you to use a cap or cage when necessary.

Step 8 – Place Insulation

Place insulation around the pipes if they are exposed to cold weather temperatures that fall below the temperature the pipes are made for. An aluminum or mesh material on top of the insulation provides the right protection for the pipes.
