Residential Remodeling Gone Wrong: 2 Common Oversights

When it comes to residential remodeling, there are a few factors that one might overlook. Be sure to do all of your research on all requirements to remodel your home.

1. Permits
The following remodels will likely need a permit through your town or county – any major replacements or repairs to heaters, furnaces, pipes, electrical systems, new circuits, roof coverings, or exterior walls. If you are constructing a new building, conducting large structural modifications, or destroying any existing buildings these may require not only permits but approval by any zoning boards.

2. Internal Factors

When remodeling, do make sure that any structural changes won’t affect the electrical or plumbing structures of your home. Be sure to take these into affect, especially when adding rooms or removing walls. You may want to consider bringing in a professional to assist with these efforts if you don’t have any familiarity with electrical or plumbing systems, damaging these carelessly when making repairs can cost a fortune to fix so it is best to work with professionals to prevent any errors from the start.
