Installing residential solar panels is an excellent way to go green. Often times converting your entire house won’t be feasible or cost effective. Here are a few simple tips to help you choose an installation option that’s best for you.
Solar Communities
If installing solar panels in your home isn’t a viable option, consider getting the community involved to help with your efforts. Oftentimes an entire community that comes together will be able to build a solar station. This can help the communities power grid by converting some of the power to solar energy. It won’t eliminate the need for standard electricity, but it can go a long way in conservation.
Power Small Appliances
Installing solar panels that will power your whole house can be costly, and take as long as 5 years to show a return on your investment. You may want to consider adding a few small panels that can be used to power your smaller appliances. Things like your refrigerator, wall outlets and select lights can be powered using solar. This still helps the environment, and will not be as much of an endeavor as paneling for your entire home. It may also help lower your utility bills slightly.
