Wear Gloves
This seems like a basic adage, however, when working with fiberglass resin do-it-yourselfers sometimes forgo gloves. Fiberglass resin is highly toxic. You should do your best to keep the resin away from your body. Avoiding direct skin contact is advised.
Wear a Mask
Wearing a mask when working with fiberglass resin is advisable for 2 reasons. First, you should wear a mask when applying the resin to minimize the amount of fumes you are inhaling. You should also wear a mask if your project requires any sanding. You don’t want to inhale any particles released into the air from sanding. Breathing these particles can be deleterious to your respiratory health.
Work in a Well-Ventilated Area
Whenever you work on a project involving fiberglass resin, be sure to work in a well-ventilated area. You want to have a steady circulation of fresh air. Working outside is always the best option, however, a garage will suffice. Never use fiberglass resin in small, confined areas.
