Want to spice up your Super Bowl party? Let guests choose sides in the big battle of the salsa. It's red salsa versus green. Which will win? Serve with corn chips, on a burger, over chicken, pour it everywhere...and may the better salsa bowl be empty. And making your own salsa is easy, fun and mucho better than out of a jar.
Salsa Verde: Remove the brown skin enveloping a dozen green tomatoes (sometimes called "tomatillos") and quarter them. Next, chop a handful of cilantro leaves fairly fine and crush two cloves of garlic. Finally, place everything in a food processor, add a dash of salt and blend the mixture to a chunky consistency. Serve chilled.
Zesty Salsa: Mix 1 onion, cilantro (1/4 cup leaves) and 1 jalapeno pepper (remove veins and seeds) in a food processor; place in a bowl. Then mix 10 little roma tomatoes and lime juice (from 1-2 limes) in the processor. Stir the 2 mixtures together. More cilantro, juice or pepper may be added to meet your taste.
