Should I strip a UF cable before burying it?
Underground feeder or UF cable, otherwise known as direct burial cable, is regarded as an excellent choice for outdoor purposes. A specialty of its conductors is that they are enclosed within a plastic material in the form of PVC, which at the same time insulates each conductor in it separately. In fact, the UF cables are impervious to sunlight, moisture and dampness. The outcome is that it allows for a safe electric cable burial while eliminating the need to strip off its insulation as well as the requirement of a protective conduit. However, an electric conduit may be required for an UF cable used in above-ground applications.
