Shower Spa Guide: Faucets and Fixtures to Install
If you want to have a modern and original feature in your bathroom, consider installing a shower spa. Turning your every-day shower into a spa is a great way of creating a relaxing and therapeutic personal space, and as long as you get the right kind of spa, you will be able to enjoy the invigorating water. There are a number of ways in which you can turn your bathroom into a shower spa room, using just a few simple faucets and fixtures.
Using Multiple Shower Heads
You could find a shower head which produces a fine shower-spa mist, but these usually cost a great deal of money, and are likely to be less effective than an ordinary shower range. When you are looking for a suitable shower head, consider not only ones which produce the fine spray, but also hand-held shower heads, and ones with multiple heads. The latter are often placed at different heights along the wall mount, so that your body gets an all-over spray. You may prefer a nozzle body spray, which can produce the same effect. When you are choosing your shower heads, it is best to opt for one with a large number of spray nozzles, as these will produce a better shower spa effect.
Using Steam Showers
Another fixture which might help you to get the impression of a spa is the use of a steam shower. You can purchase the steam device as a separate unit, and add it on to your existing shower. This will allow you to create a steam-room, similar to those offered in spas and beauty salons. When you are adding steam to your shower room, you need to make sure that you have a completely sealed room, with waterproof floors, walls, and ceilings, as the steam will eventually settle as condensation upon bathroom surfaces.
Using Lights
Another way to turn your shower into a spa is through the use of colored lights. You may be able to choose a series of waterproof lights which can be used inside the shower stall, or you might think about adding under-floor lighting for your shower room. These can both give the shower spa effect, and will provide you with a soothing glow for your room.
Using Shower Enclosures
As well as these features, you could also add a touch of the spa to your shower room by incorporating different styles of shower enclosures. This includes creating a wet room. You can convert a small shower into a wet room area by using frame-less doors. These feature tempered glass which is extra strong. You might also choose to have a partial-tile wall, and then fit the rest of the shower area with a sliding glass door. Fitting a plastic or acrylic wall around your shower, curved in order to create the feeling of a spa, will add an extra dimension to your shower room.
