A patio swing chair can be expensive but attractive accessory to your home, and people who install them generally want to hang on to them as long as possible. But is it time for a new one?
Check Swing
Does your chair still swing evenly? Does it jar, stick or provide an overall uncomfortable experience? If it’s not swinging smoothly, you can try some spray lubricant on the chain and joints, but if that doesn’t work, then the parts may be worn beyond repair.
Assess the Appearance
How does the swing chair look? Generally a quick visual inspection can reveal the need for a new chair. If you have a wooden chair and it’s warped, splintered, or otherwise damaged, it may be time for a new one. Weather damage and rust can be irreparable and weaken the stability of the swing. If it’s just faded though you may be able to get away with a new paint job, but don't sacrifice safety for cost.
Is it Comfortable?
Do you enjoy using the chair any more? If it has become so uncomfortable that no one wants to use it anymore, then that swing is due for a replacement. There are few things worse than trying to enjoy your morning coffee and newspaper on a swing chair so uncomfortable that it diverts all your attention to a jarring swing experience.
