Silverstone is the newest form of the Teflon® non-stick fluorocarbon resin finish. It is harder and more durable as a coating on utensils and other surfaces. It is a DuPont registered trademark.
Condition new pans before use by wiping the surface with a thin coating of shortening or oil. Use medium to low heat for best cooking results. Extremely high temperatures can cause discoloration and shorten the life of any nonstick finish. If higher temperatures are necessary, preheat the pan on medium for a few minutes. Nylon, plastic, wooden or rubber utensils are preferred. Metal utensils may be used with care, but don't cut in the pan.
Dishwashers will not affect the nonstick coating but may affect handles or knobs; Check manufacturer's instructions. Recondition Silverstone after dishwasher washing by wiping with thin coating of shortening or oil.
Remove stubborn spots with a plastic mesh puff or pad; for best results, use only products with directions stating safe for cleaning nonstick surfaces. Do not use steel wool or coarse scouring pads, or scouring powders.
Silverstone coatings that wear off cannot be repaired at home. They would have to be re-coated at very high temperatures in factory processes, which is not economical to do on a single pan.
