Stacked Washer and Dryer Maintenance Tips

by DoItYourself Staff

A stacked washer and dryer is a good way to save on space. The first step in maintenance is to establish the cause of the problem and decide on a suitable remedy. Make sure you work with your user guide or manual which will help you establish the issue and probable solution for your washer dryer.

Here are some tips on basic stacked washer and dryer maintenance.

Disconnect Power

When working on any electric appliance your first step should always be to disconnect the power.

Noise

Noise is always an indicator of malfunction as all moving parts are meant to smoothly operate without any noise. One place you can begin to check in case of noise is the suspension dampers. If they are damaged replace.

LE Error

Your stackable washer and dryer will give a LE error message when overloaded. Overloading will strain the motor and cause it to lock or damage it. Use a sizeable load on your machine. Allow a cool down period after the machine has had an overload.

Leaks

Establish the source of the leak and see if you need to seal or replace a part. Check hoses, seals and the pump to find the source of leaking. If the leak is due to a broken hose, replace with a similar one.

Odor

In case of unpleasant odor, reduce the amount of detergent used and also rinse by running a few cycles of hot water with bleach until you have a cycle that has no bubbles.

Where the issue is beyond the basics that you can handle, get a qualified technician to resolve.
